I like having the extra security of a Helmet lock. The quality of the chrome is very good and the lock itself feels heavy and substantial. However I am not thrilled with not being able to remove the key and just press the locking mechanism down. You have to physically turn the key while depressing the locking bar down and I have had occasion to experience a false lock when in fact the lock had not fully engaged to prevent removal. I probably will replace this lock later with a more user friendly model if and when I find one.

Product is as described and works great. Just what I needed. Always worried about leaving my helmet with the bike. Don’t have to worry now. I recommend this product. Easy to install.

I’ve ridden motorcycles since I was old enough to sit on one and keep at least one foot on the ground. During all that time I never gave a thought to someone walking off with my helmet. I was more worried about someone stealing the bike!
Who would want another person’s helmet? It’s sweaty, it’s got hair in it, it smells like them – it’s like stealing another guy’s jock strap! Yuck! Well, it turns out that in these economic times, if it’s not nailed down, someone will walk off with it. After someone swiped my EXO 1000, I started giving some thought to making my most important piece of motorcycle safety gear harder to steal.
This lock is excellent protection at an excellent price. The chrome is perfect and once installed, it looks like factory-installed original equipment. Where you put it is going to depend on your bike and whatever accessories you happen to have. A passenger back rest (or “sissy bar”) would be ideal, but my Harley doesn’t have one (yet!) So I settled for a handlebar install. It worked out well and I actually like where the helmet sits (in the middle of the handle bars) better there than hanging off the side of the bike. (Check out my pictures of installed lock.)
One word of caution – if you have several options for placement, be sure to test each one before making a final decision. The screws are “one-way” and once they’re screwed all the way down, you’ll need a grinder to get the lock off again. I chose to put the securing screws one or two twists in place, just enough to hold onto the bottom housing, and then I could “test-drive” the placement by resting the lock on my handlebars and then putting the helmet on the bike, to be sure that I could lock the helmet in place and successfully unlock it again. My Suzuki has a couple of helmet locks on the sissy bar and while locking the helmets in place are easy, unlocking them requires you to stick your key ring inside the helmet and feel around for the lock totally in the dark. It takes me longer than it should and actually discourages me from using the lock. So when I put this one on, I tested it before screwing everything down.
A great lock, a good price and a product I recommend.
